Drug-label amounts, not personal directions

PT-141 Dosage: Read the Label Limits

You'll read the stated amounts and times, so you can ask what fits your health and your other medicines.

What do the label amounts mean for you?

Early PT-141 studies tried several forms. Researchers were looking for an amount that might work. Those studies led to the approved label.

The PT-141 amounts below come from studies and the label. They aren't a plan for your body. You won't find steps for giving yourself the drug.

The approved amount is 1.75 mg under the skin. The label limits it to once in 24 hours. It also sets a cap of eight shots in a month [7].

Half the drug leaves the blood in about 2.7 hours [7]. Other studies tested other amounts. Your care still needs a doctor's guidance.

Your age and health can change the risk. Your other medicines can matter too. A number from a study can't serve as your care plan.

Which PT-141 dosage does the label list?

The approved PT-141 dosage is exact. The women must be before menopause. Low desire has to trouble them.

The label lists 1.75 mg in an under-skin shot. It sets a wait of at least 45 minutes before sexual activity. The limits are once within 24 hours, with eight uses allowed each month [7].

The main studies used that same limit. The cap may reduce repeat harm, including darker skin [7]. The label still isn't a personal plan for you.

Earlier studies tried 0.75, 1.25, and 1.75 mg. Those shots helped researchers choose the listed amount [7]. Higher amounts remained in research.

You'll learn the label facts without choosing an amount. The label covers one health problem. It can't judge your own risks.

How long does PT-141 stay in blood and feeling?

Your blood clears PT-141 fairly fast. The amount peaks in 0.5 to 1 hour. Half leaves the blood in about 2.7 hours [7].

The exact clearing time varied among studies. Nose-spray studies found a similar span [7]. Neither result tells how long you'll notice a change.

In 2022, one scan study recorded a rise in desire. The rise lasted up to 24 hours after one dose [5]. What you feel may outlast the amount measured in blood.

The label uses 25 liters as an estimate for how far the drug moves from blood into body tissue. That doesn't mean that many liters of drug or tissue enter you. It's a math value used to track where a drug goes.

The label also estimates how quickly your body clears the drug from blood. That figure doesn't mean you lose blood or other fluid. Your kidneys remove most of the drug [7].

Which women have an approved PT-141 dosage?

The approved PT-141 dosage for women is 1.75 mg. The shot is used only as needed under the skin. The limits are one use each day and eight uses monthly [7].

Approval only covers women before menopause. Their lack of desire must trouble them. No other use in women has approval.

In female rats, PT-141 made the animals approach males more often to start mating. Their reflexes and general movement didn't change [2]. That told researchers the change wasn't just extra movement.

Later human studies set the amount at 1.75 mg [3]. They didn't approve a higher "female" amount. Ask your doctor to weigh the label against your health.

Keep the rat work apart from the label. Rats gave researchers an early clue. Human studies had to come next.

Which amounts were only used in research?

Some studies tried PT-141 for uses without approval. These are study facts, not steps for you. Early work gave men a nose spray.

In those tests, men had more erections after amounts above 7 mg [1]. Noses took in the spray unevenly [7]. Researchers stopped using that form.

Two Phase 1 studies asked a different question. This was early research in people. Women received up to 2.5 mg three times daily.

Over 16 days, those women lost a little more weight than women given placebo [8]. The placebo looked like treatment but had no active drug. FDA hasn't approved PT-141 for weight loss [7].

Those amounts came from narrow research studies. They don't widen what FDA approved. They also aren't choices for your body.
